如果ChatGPT上的是医学院呢, then developed specialized expertise through a residency in HIV prevention for women?

这就是它的创造者如何描述ShesPrEPared的, an artificial intelligence chatbot 和 website being developed by an interdisciplinary team at UNC-Chapel Hill. The new chatbot will help women worldwide learn about 和 choose their preferred HIV prevention method.

领导这个项目是 劳伦·希尔, an assistant professor in the UNC 吉林斯全球公共卫生学院’s health behavior department. Her re太阳城娱乐城 centers on community- 和 clinic-based interventions to promote women’s underst和ing 和 effective use of PrEP, 暴露前预防的意思是什么. PrEP is taken for protection before exposure to HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.

希尔的合作者包括 沙斯利瓦斯塔瓦Dr. 克里斯托弗卖家. Srivastava is an assistant professor in the UNC 文理学院’ computer science department who is an expert in natural language processing, AI, 机器学习及其应用. Sellers is an assistant professor in the UNC School of 医学 和 medical director of Wake County’s Human Services HIV 和 sexually transmitted infection clinics.

The team aims to create a user-friendly website 和 a chatbot that uses a shared decision-making approach, 最好的医疗实践. 用户可以询问有关PrEP的任何问题. The answers will include specialized information that other chatbots cannot provide 和 tailored support to help users decide about their preference for HIV prevention.

Srivastava’s team is building the ShesPrEPared chatbot on a ChatGPT foundation but with a deeper knowledge. “It’s like ChatGPT went to college 和 knows some stuff about HIV 和 PrEP, but we’re training our chatbot like it’s completing a medical residency or specialist training. It knows more about PrEP that is specific to women, current 和 accurate,” Hill said.

Hill adopts a “a real-world impact” view of AIDS prevention, focusing on women’s health from adolescence to adulthood. “Some periods in life are potentially more important than others in determining one’s health. 怀孕和产后期间, 对很多女人来说, 特别是在非洲, 什么时候最容易感染艾滋病毒,”她说。.

The chatbot is part of a process that begins with education about HIV prevention. “In public health, we know that information isn’t enough,” Hill said. “作为一名行为科学家, I try to help people take actions that they want to take for their health, 对自己的生活环境要现实, their resources 和 whatever may either help or hinder them to live a healthy life.”

HIV-treatment drugs have existed since 1987, when AZT gained FDA approval. HIV-prevention drugs have only been in use since 2012. Three HIV-prevention drugs – two in pill form 和 one monthly injection – 和 a vaginal ring are approved for use.

“Just because these great products exist doesn’t mean that people will use them or use them effectively. Product selection needs to center on the person’s preferences,” Hill said. The team wants people to use the website 和 chatbot to learn about the products’ pros 和 cons, so that they can determine which products are best for them.

North Carolina women considering HIV prevention will be recruited to test the chatbot through local clinics. The long-term goal is to make the chatbot available in waiting rooms 和 as part of medical provider referral so women can learn about PrEP before meeting with a provider.

The Gillings 创新 Lab 和 the UNC Center for AIDS 研究 are funding the team’s work.
